TANSBURY, Erma Erma E. Stansbury, 91, a resident of Mayo, MD passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. Erma was born on November 13, 1924 to the late Percy and Margaret Davis in Washington, DC. where she graduated from Anacostia High School. During WWII she worked at the Naval Gun Factory. After they moved to Mayo, her husband Jack, whom she married in 1943, established Stansbury Plumbing and Heating where Erma managed the daily operations. She was also the first secretary for Mayo Elementary school and later was a supervisor for Anne Arundel County in the Inspection and Permits division. Erma loved games and enjoyed teaching and playing games with her children and grandchildren. Erma was a talented painter of ceramics, and her family and friends will long cherish the ceramics she made for them. Erma was active in many organizations including the Ki-wives, Kiwanis Club, Mayo Elementary PTA, Master Plumbers Association Auxiliary, Ladies of the Elks, and Girl Scouts, often in a leadership position. After her retirement, she volunteered at Mayo Elementary providing extra reading help to children. She loved to travel, in and out of the country. Erma was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Stansbury; two sisters, Mary Harrington and Margaret Pampley; four brothers, Walter Davis, Eddie Davis, Fred Davis, and Robert Davis. She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Tripodi (husband Tony) of Annapolis, MD, Joyce Perkinson (husband Henny) of St. James City, FL, and Melissa Lloyd (husband Kevin) of Edgewater, MD; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Erma is also survived by a sister Vivian Jarboe of Pennsylvania, and brothers Richard Davis of Florida and Gywnne Davis of Maryland. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday February 15 from 10am until a service begins at 12pm. Interment will be private.
