stella Frances Kober, a 6 year resident of Sunrise Assisted Living in Annapolis, and formerly of Parkland, MD, died on Saturday December 4 of natural causes. Estella was 90 years old.
Born December 16, 1919 in Jordan Mines, Virginia to the late Andrew and Radie Bess, Estella grew up in Alleghany County, VA. After graduating high school she attended Nursing School in Washington, D.C. and became a Registered Nurse until she found her true calling as a mother and homemaker.
She enjoyed gardening, bowling, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Estella was predeceased by her husband Paul Kober, whom she married in March of 1943, her children Arlene and Richard Kober and her siblings Mabel Coger, Arthur, Rayburn, Nellie, Jerrel and Corbin Bess.
She is survived by her daughters Carol Murphy of Churchton, MD and Teresa Stack (Andrew) of Upper Marlboro, her brothers Julian Bess of Covington, VA, Gary Bess of Picayune, Mississippi and Pat Bess of Grafton, West Virginia. Also survived by her granddaughters Christie Stack- Sides (Thomas) and Michelle Stack, both of Annapolis and her great-grandchildren Aaron and Addison Sides of Annapolis.
Friends are invited to Estella’s Life Celebration on Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 11am until a funeral service begins at 12 noon at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD.
