Esther Arlene Rodey - Obituary

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VISITATION AND FUNERAL TIME HAVE CHANGED* Esther Arlene Rodey, ”Grandma”, “Aunt Esther”, 89, a 6-year resident of Dunkirk, MD and previously of Glen Burnie, passed away at her home on March 7, 2018, surrounded by her family. Esther was born on March 23, 1928 to the late James and Grace Smith. She attended business school in Baltimore and worked in accounting. She was self employed and also worked for Roper Corp and Keystone Automotive. She was a member of Dunkirk Baptist Church and she enjoyed cooking, sewing, art & crafts, gardening and spending time with her great-grandchildren. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Rodey, and her children; Donald R. and Esther Anna Rodey. She was also preceded in death by her five siblings. Esther is survived by her granddaughters; Erin and her husband Keith Fultz and Sarah Rodey, her great-grandchildren; Grace, Anna and Scarlet. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Esther’s life on Friday, March 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 11am at Dunkirk Baptist Church, 11275 Southern Maryland Blvd. Dunkirk, MD 20754.
