Eugene Albert, CWO - Obituary

n Monday, July 7, 2008 at his home. Mr. Albert is a Pearl Harbor survivor. In 1944, he graduated from the Naval School of Music as a Bandmaster and in 1952 was appointed Warrent Officer and was the first unit Bandmaster in the Navy to receive such an appointment. He finished his Naval career at the Naval Music School in Washington, DC retiring in 1964. Dutch devoted years of his life to many fraternal and volunteer organizations. Mr. Albert was the beloved husband of 54 years of the late Florence "Peg" Albert; brother of Kate, Ross, Chet and Ed. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and their children and his loving caregiver, Jackie Edwards. Relatives and friends are invited to Mr. Albert's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A., 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745 on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 2 to 4pm where services will be held on Thursday, July 10 at 11am. Interment Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Masonic Foundation of the District of Columbia, 5428 MacArthur Blvd., NW, Washington, DC 20016 or to the St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
