ugene E. Sehrt, age 79, a resident of Edgewater for over 25 years died on Nov 10, at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes.
Born on June 23, 1930, in St. Louis, Mo., Eugene attended Officer's Candidate School at Ft. Knox, KY and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a tank commander and attained the rank of Second Lieutenant. After the war Eugene began working for Bell Systems which later became AT&T. He was employed there his entire working life. Eugene enjoyed electronics, gardening, science and technology.
He is preceded in death by one son, Thomas Sehrt; and one brother, Ray Sehrt.
Survivors include his wife, Patrica Barry Sehrt, whom he married on May 10, 1952; three sons, Gary Sehrt of Edgewater, Brian Sehrt of Lavonia Mich., Greg Sehrt of Edgewater; two sisters, Carol Boyer of Ga., Judy McWilliams of Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Lorraine Sehrt of Branchville N.J., and Faith Sehrt of Lavonia, Mich.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Eugene's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm where services will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Eugene's name to the charity of one's choice.
