Evelyn Hall - Obituary

velyn was born December 16, 1934 to Elizabeth and Norwood Harmon in New York, NY. She was one of ten children and is survived by two sisters, Jane and Marcia, and three brothers, William, James and Charles. Evelyn was Aunt to five nieces Nancy, Elizabeth, Gwendolyn, Leslie and Jana and 6 nephews, Gregory, Brian, William 111, James Jr, Charles Jr. and David. She has many great nieces and nephews, and more recently, two great great nieces joined the family. She is also survived by 3 cousins, Frances, Kathleen and Winston. Evelyn attended schools in Harlem and the upper west side of New York during her early education years. As an adult leaner, she attended Bronx Community College in New York City, with the goal of obtaining a college degree. She was on the Dean's list twice and in 1981, at the age of 47, was awarded her Associate Degree in Science. Evelyn was very active in her church, and was a dedicated volunteer providing meals to the homeless. She enjoyed helping others in times of need, and enjoyed the companionship of her dog Shah who is now living with family members. Evelyn's friendly and outgoing personality was a real asset, allowing her a long, enjoyable career in customer service in various retail establishments, including Nordstrom and Walmart. Family and friends are invited to Evelyn's Life Celebration on Sunday, January 23 from 12 noon until service time at 1:30PM at the First Christian Church at Brock Hall, 2400 Largo Rd. Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Interment on Monday, January 24 at 12:30pm at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, N.J.
