Evelyn A. Laird - Obituary

velyn Alberta Laird “Ebbie”, 90, died on Wednesday, June 7 of natural causes at the Hospice Care Center in Pasadena, MD. A 25 year resident of Annapolis, Maryland and formerly of Cheverly, MD, she was born to the late Norman H. Watson and Grace Essick Watson on August 8, 1926, in Wilmington, DE. Evelyn graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1943 and worked at Hercules Powder Company until relocating to Greenbelt, MD following her marriage in 1946 to the love of her life, Edward Laird. She retired in 1987 after working 22 years as a medical receptionist and later moved to Heritage Harbor in Annapolis, MD. She was a member of the Cheverly United Methodist Church and the Cheverly Swim and Racquet Club. Enjoying summers at Rehoboth Beach, she later wintered in the Florida Keys. As wife, mother, sister, Nanny and Aunt Ebbie; she touched the heart and souls of the family she cherished. Beloved wife of the late Edward Laird, devoted mother of E. Allan Laird (Debra) of Annapolis, Karen Hunter (Craig) of Crofton and Robin J. Laird (Doug Colley) of Annapolis; loving grandmother of Matt Hunter, Kristin Bloom, E. Dylan and Diane Laird, Gavin and Heath Colley; great grandmother of Hunter, Camden and Paisley Bloom. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15 at 2pm at Cheverly United Methodist Church, 2801 Cheverly Ave., Cheverly, MD 20785. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
