anne Charlotte Marsh, 103 years old, of Camp Springs, MD, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2016 of natural causes. Fanne was born in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on July 15, 1913 to the late Edar and Littie Robison. She graduated from high school in Ft. Smith and continued on to be a court stenographer in junior college. She married George Lester marsh on December 31, 1935 at Goddard Avenue Methodist Church in Ft. Smith. In 1942, Fanne and George were transferred to the east coast after he enlisted in the Navy. They were stationed at the naval base in Norfolk, Virginia. Their daughter, Carol, was born at Portsmouth Naval Base in 1944. After the war the family moved to Tulsa Oklahoma. Fanne resumed her role as wife and mother. She also became active in the League of Women Voters and the Tulsa Garden Club. She began work in 1958 as an assistant to the Superintendant of Tulsa Public Schools. She remained in her profession for over 20 years. Fanne enjoyed gardening, travelling and the trailer that she and George owned at Lake Tenkiller near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Fanne was always an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. They shared many years of relaxation and fishing at the lake. Fanne’s sister, Bess, and her husband also owned property at the same location. Nephews, nieces and grandchildren all shared in and enjoyed these years at the lake. George passed away in 1994 at the age of 85. Fanne remained in Tulsa for several years before moving to Maryland to be near her daughter Carol’s family. Fanne is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Mangold and her husband Mark, granddaughter Danielle Shuey and her husband Chad; grandson Darren Mangold and wife Rachel. Fanne had two great grandchildren, Georgieanne and Elise Shuey, and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends. Fanne was preceded in death by all her siblings and parents. She was the youngest in her family at age 103! She will be greatly missed, especially by her daughter Carol. A Memorial service celebrating Fanne's life will be held on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at 11am at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment will follow at a later day at Steep Hill Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Steep Hill Cemetery, c/o Opal Harris, 12909 Highway 45, Ft.
