erris L. Grow “Tommieâ€
Ferris L. Grow “Tommieâ€, an 18 year resident of Davidsonville, MD and previously of Hyattsville, MD, passed away Saturday February 21, 2009 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 86.
Born October 27, 1922 in Duley Station, Maryland to the late Glenn and Elsie Grow, in his earlier years he worked as a dump truck driver primarily for Campbell Sand Co. He later worked as a Crain Operator & Foreman for WSSC until his retirement in 1981.
Ferris was a member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 179 A.F. & A.M. Hyattsville, Maryland
Tommie loved to tinker and show his steam engines and small motors. He also enjoyed stained glass, Talking with old friends and making new ones. He loved to tell old stories and to travel with his wife Annie in their motor home.
Tommie is survived by his wife of 58 years Annie S. Grow, his daughter Kathryn Barlow of Riverdale, MD and he was predeceased by his son Lee Grow, who died April 11, 2005. He is also survived by his brothers Norman Grow of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Kendall Grow of Jessup, MD, and his grandchildren Adam Barlow, Jenny Betten and Jessie Grow, and his great grandson Andrew Barlow.
Friends are invited to Tommie's Life Celebration on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 4-7pm at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, P.A. 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 26, 2009 at 12 Noon at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD 21035. Interment Private.
