lora Ann Bryant, 84, of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Edgewater, MD passed away on June 19, 2024 at Luminus Health Anne Arundel Medical Center after a short illness. Born on April 5, 1940 in Clintonville, WV, she was the daughter of the late George Oscar Scruggs and Anna Catherine (Loudermilk) Scruggs. She was one of nine children born to this union. Ann attended local schools in Caldwell and White Sulphur Springs, WV. She later moved to Charleston, WV where she attended high school for a while, eventually moving back home and finishing her schooling at Rupert High School. Ann married the love of her life Ivan G. Bryant on August 3, 1959 in Lewisburg, WV. In the early 60’s they moved to Davidsonville, MD and together raised four children. They later moved to Edgewater where they lived until Ivan’s passing in 2015 at which time she moved to Annapolis. They had been married for 56 years. When her children were older she began working at Colonial Bowling Lanes (Rinaldi Lanes) in Annapolis as a snack bar and bar manager until their closing. She later went to work for Highs of Baltimore where she would retire after over 25 years as a store manager. Ann loved duckpin bowling, trips with family and friends to West Virginia and Dover, DE where she loved the slots, and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles, NASCAR’s Jeff Gordon, Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty. Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. To know her was to love her and she will not soon be forgotten by all who came into contact with her. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Lee Whitehead, her brothers Larry Thomas Scruggs, William H. Scruggs and Garry Calvin Scruggs, and her grandson, Paul E. Bryant, Jr. She is survived by her children, Patricia A. Bryant Smith (Mike) of Edgewater, Paul E. Bryant (Kim) of Deale, MD, David A. Bryant (Sandy) of Edgewater and Darrin E. Bryant (Lisa) of Annapolis. She is also survived by her sisters Erma B. Bryant of Davidsonville and Carolyn S. Trail of Woodstock, VA, her brothers Grady D. Scruggs (Agnes) of Leonardtown, MD and Samuel D. Scruggs (Jeannie) of Okeechobee, FL, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews that she loved like her own. Family and friends are invited to Ann’s life celebration on Monday, July 8 from 10 AM-12 noon, followed by her funeral service at noon, at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Burial will follow in Crownsville Veterans Cemetery.
