lorence “Boots” G. Carr, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, in Gambrills. Boots was born on September 24, 1928, to the late Joseph and Theresa Hoernig. Boots was a farmer’s wife and enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, cooking, and canning. She was an active member of the Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau, where she served as the Women's Committee Chairperson from 1988 to 1998, and was a member of the Anne Arundel County Soil Conservation District. In addition to her parents, Boots was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Kenneth Carr, her son, Henry “Pete” Carr, and grandson, Kris Carr. Boots is survived by her grandchildren, Chad and Joni Carr, and one great-granddaughter, Dixie Carr. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Boots' life on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 4 pm until her memorial service begins at 5 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment private. In honor of Boots’ lifelong dedication, the AACO Farm Bureau is establishing a scholarship fund to support future Farm Bureau Ambassadors—just as she would have wanted. This fund will ensure that her legacy of encouraging and empowering young leaders in agriculture continues for generations to come. In lieu of flowers, the family would like everyone to make memorial contributions to the Anne Arundel County Farm Bureau, Inc. and mail to: 2857 Davidsonville Rd.
