Florence Roberts - Obituary

lorence A. Roberts, a 25 year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Chatham, NJ died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on December 28, 2014. Born January 19, 1918 in Glen Ridge, NJ, she received her nursing degree from Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ and attended Columbia University. She was employed as a nurse in private practice during most of her career. Florence served as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army and was a surgical nurse stationed at Normandy, France after the D-Day invasion. She was a member of the American Legion in Annapolis and enjoyed painting. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Roberts in 1982. She is survived by two sons, Melvin S. Roberts of Davidsonville, MD and Kenneth R. Roberts of Carthage, MS; three grandchildren, Andrew Roberts of Odenton, MD, Rebecca Roberts of Carthage, MS and Allison Fix of Colombia, MD; and two great-grandchildren, Emily Roberts and Colin Fix. Services and interment private. Memorial donations may be made in Florence's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
