Floretta Beasley McFadden - Obituary

loretta B. “Soey” McFadden, 93, died on October 3, 2020 at her residence in Annapolis, MD due to congestive heart failure. Born on February 20, 1927 in Columbus, OH to the late John and Mary Poeppelmeyer, Floretta was raised by her grandparents, William and Erma Beasley, and moved with them to Sharon, PA, as a young girl. They later relocated to Youngstown, OH during her later childhood. She was introduced to George McFadden from Sharon as a young adult and they married in 1948. As a military family they lived in numerous locations within the United States and abroad and returned frequently to Sharon for family visits. They finally settled on Turkey Point in Edgewater, MD in 1987. In 2018, she relocated to Brightview Senior Center in Annapolis where she resided until her death. In her spare time, Floretta enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, George L. McFadden, Jr. and her son, Mark McFadden. She is survived by her children, Kenneth McFadden, Kathleen Dupuis, Robert McFadden, George McFadden, III and William McFadden; her grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, John, Megan, Jennifer, Bryan, Kelly, Kevin, Zachary, Patrick, Nicholas and Elizabeth and 9 great grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Floretta’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Monday, October 12 from 1 pm until her funeral service begins at 2 pm.
