Forrest M. Burt - Obituary

orrest M. Burt, 93, a 52-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away suddenly on February 22, 2026. Born on October 1, 1932 in Sauk Centre, MN to the late Earl and May Burt, Forrest graduated from Bladensburg High School. He worked for Bell Atlantic Telephone, formerly known as C & P Telephone Company. He also served in the United States Army. Forrest loved nature, especially birdwatching and surf fishing. He was a fan of Orioles baseball, Redskins football, and University of Maryland basketball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nancy Anne Burt, his son, Martin Burt, and his siblings, Stanly Burt, Lyle Burt, Betty Keenan, and Ella May Burt. He is survived by his daughter, Erin (Tim) Smith of Edgewater, MD; his daughter-in-law, Christine Burt; and his grandchildren, William Burt, Brian Burt, Timothy Smith, Jr., and Katelyn Smith, as well as two great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Forrest's life on Saturday, March 28 from 11 am to 1:30 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
