rances C. Bailey, 80, a ten year resident of Arnold, and previously of Annapolis, MD, died at her home on Thursday, August 23, 2018, following a three-year illness. Born July 3, 1938, in Davidsonville, MD, to the late John and S. Carita Stokes, she graduated from Annapolis High School and Fleet Business School. Frances worked as a secretary at the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County and was a devoted homemaker. She was a longtime member of Decatur Heights Baptist Church in Bladensburg, MD and Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville, MD. Frances enjoyed talking with Wease, Donna, and Bonnie, watching baseball and game shows. She especially loved bird watching, particularly hummingbirds. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ray “Charles” Bailey, Sr.; a son, Ray "Bump" Bailey, Jr.; three siblings, George Elmer Stokes, Sr., Charlotte Sullivan, and Mary Willson; a grandson, Bryan E. Bailey; and sons-in-law, Robert Parks and Chuck Slaughter. She is survived by two sons, J.E.(Tina) Bailey of Edgewater, MD and Donald H. Bailey Sr. of Bozman , MD; two daughters, Cynthia L. Parks of Friendship, MD and Melanie C. Slaughter of Arnold, MD; three siblings, Robert E. Stokes of Edgewater, MD, Edith Roane of Annapolis, MD, and Pat Dennison of Shippensburg, PA; 13 grandchildren, Ray C. Bailey III, Donald H. Bailey, James E. Bailey Jr., Travis J. Bailey, Justin T. Bailey, Anthony C. Slaughter, Dylan R. Slaughter, Crissy C. Rusk, Amber N. Trivette, Heather J. Whittington, Tiffany L. Bailey, Sara B. Brown, Amanda A. Bailey; six great-grandchildren; and two in-laws, Ellen Evans of Glen Burnie, MD and Jimmy Bailey of Ohio; and countless nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Frances' life on Tuesday, August 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship, 377 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 11 am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
