Frances Mae Cook - Obituary

rances “Fran” Cook Simmons, 79, a 20+ year resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis and previously of Timonium, MD passed away suddenly on November 3, 2025. Fran was born in Sunbury, PA to the late William and Anna Kazar Rector. She grew up in Brooklyn Park, Maryland and graduated from Brooklyn Park High School. After high school graduation, Fran began her career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation, (later Northrop Grumman Corporation) she then attended University of Baltimore, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. She had a very successful 40+ year career as a Human Resources Manager. In addition to her parents, Fran is preceded in death by her husband Coy Edward “Ed” Simmons in 2018. She is survived by her brother William David Rector, sister-in-law Susan Krepps, nieces Allison Maroclo and Taylor Rector and great nephews, Logan Maroclo and Jack Maroclo and many dearly loved cousins. Fran had many friends in the Heritage Harbour community and was especially close to her neighbors. Her family is very grateful for their friendship and caring they provided to Fran. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Fran’s life on November 21, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomon’s Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
