rances Lehmann, "Fran", 85, a resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of N. Ft. Myers, FL, died on Saturday, May 20 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born on January 28, 1932 in Dummerston, VT to the late Clarence and Mariam Covey, Fran worked as a clerk with Islip Township and the State of Maryland. As a child, Fran was a Girl Scout and later she became a Girl Scout Leader for her children. During her lifetime, she travelled extensively with her late husband of 52 years, Everett W. Lehmann, because of his job. While living in Sayville, NY for more than 17 years, Fran was very active in the Sayville PTA where she served a term as President. After moving to Bowie, MD, she became active in the Bowie Women's Club and the Lady Elks of Bowie. Later, she was also active in the Annapolis Women's Club and the Lions Club in Florida. She enjoyed golfing, knitting toe socks for her granddaughters, reading, crafts and sitting in her favorite chair watching the hummingbirds. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Lehmann of Bowie, MD, Nancy Prutting of Shady Side, MD and Dawn Cooper of Crystal River, FL; her grandchildren, Josef Hermann, Hollie Tyler, Tiffany Helfer, Janeen Lehmann and Caitlyn Prutting and her great-granddaughter, Elise Tyler. Friends are invited to celebrate Fran's life on Wednesday, May 24 from 4 to 7 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where her memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 2 PM. Condolences and tributes may be made by clicking the tab on this page.
