Frances McDonald - Obituary

rances Deane Thomas McDonald, 88, a 62-year resident of the Annapolis area passed away on February 5, 2017. Born on April 25, 1928 in Moorefield, WV to the late John and Elizabeth Thomas, Frances attended Marshall College in Huntington, WV. She enjoyed a diverse career as an auditor for the Register of Wills, a librarian, and a substitute teacher in the Anne Arundel County school systems. Her passion though was in following her vocation as a wife, mother and grandmother, creating a comfortable home for her husband and children, and supporting and nurturing her growing family throughout the years. Frances particularly enjoyed taking photos and journaling her families’ lives. She served with her husband at Mt. Zion UMC in Lothian, Owensville Methodist, Seat Pleasant UMC, Trinity UMC in Annapolis and Chevy Chase UMC. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband, Reverend Ramon Ernest McDonald, Sr. who died in 2012; two brothers, Elvin and Ralph and four sisters, Lillian, Hazel, Kathryn and Genevieve. She is survived by two sons, Reverend Dr. Ramon (Carolyn) McDonald II and Timothy (Lori) McDonald both of Harwood; and one daughter, Deana (John) Deans of Davidsonville; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Frances' life on Wednesday, February 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 9 at 11 am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 122 Bayard Rd., Lothian, MD 20711. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
