Frances Pettitt - Obituary

rances T. Pettitt, 74, a resident of Edgewater, MD for over 33 years and previously of Laurel, MD died of natural causes on June 24, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born February 22, 1934 in Washington, D.C., she is a graduate of Eastern High School and Strayer School of Business, both in Washington, D.C. She worked with the federal government in the Bureau of Customs for 10 years, and then worked at ALSI (Allied Science, Inc.) Medical Center in Landover, MD, where she worked as an office manager until eventually becoming the owner of the company. She was a volunteer at the Edgewater Library. Every year she and her husband prepared 10 backpacks and gave them to needy children on the first day of school and for each holiday they provided a meal for needy families. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society and Ki-wives. The beloved wife of Alden R. Pettitt; mother of Paul N. Pettitt, Lori A. Mackey, Sheri A. Jojokian, Debra L. Kasraei and Anne M. Mangiafico; sister of Anne Kight; mother in law of Karen Pettitt, Charles Mackey, Jack Jojokian, Saeid Kasraei and Michael Mangiafico; sister in law of Janice Passero; grandmother of Stephanie Jojokian, Christopher Mackey, Angie Beckett, James and Kristina Johnson, Travis Phipps, Megan and Sarah Mangiafico, LJ Schreffler, Gabriel Coueille, Victoria Pettitt,and Anne and Brian Whiteford,adopted mother of Al and Dusty Rhodes, Wayne and Mary Bergman. Friends are invited to Frances' Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday June 30 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Edgewater, MD.
