rancis "Butch" Edward Curtin, a 19-year resident of Riva, MD and previously of Beltsville, MD, died at his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was 69. Born December 6, 1944 to the late John A. and Helen G. (Stroh) Curtin, he graduated from Prince George's Community College in 1982 with an Associate Degree in Business Management. Butch was employed by the Canteen Vending Company where he devoted 45 years of service. His career began as a vending mechanic and progressed into several management positions, the last of which was District Operations Manager of the Suitland, Maryland branch. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on his big screen television, collecting electronic gadgets, admiring vintage automobiles, eating crabs at Mike’s and cheering and supporting the Grandchildren’s endeavors. His greatest joy was his family. Butch was the beloved husband of Mary K. Curtin; devoted father of daughter, Angela Marie (Curtin) Pomeroy and her husband, Scott, and stepson, Matthew John Fink; brother of John A. Curtin, Jr., Terrance (Robin) D. Curtin, Kathryn (Herman) Minnick, Mary T. Brewer, Helen Marie McClintic and the late Dennis J. Curtin; grandfather of Amanda, Bryan and Megan Pomeroy and Brady and Matthew Fink. Also survived by ten nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, June 12 from 5pm until time of funeral begins at 6pm. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center.
