Francis Langston - Obituary

rancis “Wink” Wingfield Langston, 71, a resident of Annapolis, MD for 15 years and previously of Westboro, MA, Cheshire, CT, New Haven, CT and Atlanta, GA died on October 31, 2008 at The Arbor at Baywood in Annapolis, MD of primary lateral sclerosis after a 6 year illness. Born on June 16, 1937 in Atlanta, GA he received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Yale University in 1959 and attended Harvard Law School. He worked in information technology most of his life; he retired from the Maryland State Retirement Agency in 2000 as the Chief Information Officer. He was an MP in the National Guard and was a Yale cheerleader. His memberships included Calvary Methodist Church, board member of Broadview Home Owners Association for 11years; treasurer of Annapolis International Club for 3 years; Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi. His hobbies included skiing, whitewater canoeing, Navy games, reading, family, Maine and working outdoors. His was the beloved husband of Marcia Lloyd Langston, whom he married on August 27, 1960; father of Scott Langston of Jonesville, WI and Mark Langston of Portland, OR; brother of Ted Langston of Colorado and Arizona and Gayle Ricklefs of Augusta, GA; also survived by 3 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Mr. Langston's Life Celebration on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD from 10am to time of service at 11am; a luncheon will be offered after the service. Interment will be held at a later date.
