Frank M. Bryn - Obituary

rank Michael Bryn, a longtime resident of Bethesda, MD, and San Jose, CA, died on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Anne Arundel Medical Center after complications due to a head injury. Born January 25, 1935, in Johnstown, PA, to the late Michael Bryn and Theofila Bilok, he served his country for 18 years as an aviator and flight instructor in the United States Marine Corps. He received his bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park. Frank was employed by I.B.M. in Gaithersburg, MD, for 30 years, followed by a fulfilling career at Lockheed-Martin in San Jose, CA from 1999 until his retirement in 2012. Frank enjoyed hiking and traveling, ascending Mt. Fuji, Japan at age 80, and hiking Murren, Switzerland with family in June, 2017. He greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, including potluck dinners with the Singulaires Sierra hiking club in San Jose. He is survived by his children, Dr. Eileen Bryn MacDonald (Dr. James) of Annapolis, MD; Barbara Bryn Farley (Dr. Timothy) of St. Louis, MO; and Robert Bryn (Mindy) of Cincinnati, OH; his former wife, Grace Bryn; his brother Steven Bryn; and 11 grandchildren: James, Lauren Charlotte and Henry MacDonald; Ryan, Peter, Owen and Catherine Farley; and Anna, Jack and Clara Bryn. Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, September 15, 2017, from 4 to 6:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at 9:30 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
