rank Joseph DeGeorge, 101, passed away on May 18, 2022 in Riva, MD. Born on January 16, 1921 in Washington DC to the late Louis and Innocenza DeGeorge, he was a longtime resident of Annapolis, and previously of Largo and District Heights. A graduate of Eastern High School in Washington DC, Frank served in the Navy, later going on to become a Career Civil Servant for the Department of the Navy. A parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis, MD, he was active for many years in several church organizations, including Holy Name Society, St. Vincent DePaul and CYO, and was a loyal attendee and benefactor of Loyola Retreat House. Frank was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, and of the Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy in America. He was an avid fan of Washington sports teams, as well as Notre Dame. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball and soccer, and gardening, but most of all “Pasta Sundays” and time with extended family. In addition to his parents, Frank is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Dolores DeGeorge; two children, Paul and Barbara Jean DeGeorge; eight siblings, Angelina, Annunciata, Augustus (Gus), Annunciata (Nancy), Anna, Vittorio (Vic), Angelina (Bootsie), and Joseph. He is survived by his children, James (Peggy) of Columbia, MD, Frank (Mary) of Wilmington, NC, Gina (Robert) of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Steven (Mary Kay) of Arnold, MD; sister, Louise Alleva of FL; sister-in-law, Jean Sanders of Kingsland, TX; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Frank’s life on Monday, May 23rd from 6 to 8pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, May 24th at 10:30am at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics of Maryland, 3701 Commerce Dr., Ste. 103, Baltimore, MD 21227, or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Mary’s, 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD 21401.
