Frank Joseph Krtanjek, Jr - Obituary

n February 8, 2017 of Fort Washington, MD, beloved husband of Sarah Krtanjek (States) for 52 years. Devoted father of Frank Krtanjek, III, (Fort Washington, MD), and Michelle Krtanjek (Mt. Pleasant, WI). Loving grandfather of Brittany Krtanjek, Alissa Krtanjek and Trent Koderca. Brother of Donald Krtanjek (Elaine), Diane Cointot (Butch) and Frances Krtanjek. He was a Vietnam Veteran and Federal Retiree. Born in Lackawanna, NY and moved to Washington, DC in 1962. Airman First Class in the Unites States Airforce, and stationed at Bolling Airforce Base from 1960 to 1964. He worked for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) under the Department of Defense for 33 years. Retired in 1997, along with his wife Sarah, built his retirement home and spent winters in sunny Arizona. Frank was heavily involved in the Oxon Hills Boys and Girls from 1975 to 1983 where his footprint was in mentoring and inspiring local boys and girls in sportsmanship, respect and teamwork. After he stepped down, he continued to attend local sporting events for his son and daughter- and never missed a game. Frank enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them. He also loved puzzle games- crossword and sudoku. Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, Wounded Warriors or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
