VAN'T HOFF'S VIDEO TRIBUTE Freddy "Dutch" Van't Hoff, 63, of Orange City, Fla., and formerly of Silver Spring for 34 years, died of lung cancer Jan. 2 at his home after an illness lasting over a year. Mr. Van't Hoff was born July 8, 1944, in Haarlem, Holland, to the late Cornelius and Hendricka Van't Hoff. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 12 years old, and he graduated from Bladensburg High School. He was self-employed as a ceramic tile contractor. Mr. Van't Hoff enjoyed watching sports, such as soccer, football, golf and NASCAR. He played soccer as a young man and recently enjoyed watching the World Cup. He also was an avid Redskins fan. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Rudolph Van't Hoff. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Kathryn Caputo Van't Hoff; one son, John Van't Hoff of Scaggsville; one daughter, Carla Hultberg of West River; two sisters Nancy Nuthall of Upper Marlboro and Carla Rose of Dunkirk; and four grandchildren. Family and friends may visit from noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
