Frederick William Bauer - Obituary

F

rederick William “Fred” Bauer, 58, of Huntingtown, MD, died on Thursday, December 21 at his home due to cancer. Born on September 30, 1959 in Washington, D.C. to the late Joseph C. and Julia G. Ferreira Bauer, Fred was a graduate of Crossland High School in Temple Hills, MD. He was a co-owner of his family’s plumbing business, Joseph C. Bauer, Inc. Fred was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Huntingtown, MD. Fred loved his friends, family, and pets alike. No matter the event, he was each of his children’s biggest fan. When he was not working on one of his many projects, he could be found boating, fishing, or sitting on the beach or at any given dock bar in the summer. In the colder months, he could be found around the woodpile, tending the wood stove (with his Dog, Macie), “piddling” in one of his garages, or watching the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed his Boston Whaler, Kubota, Kawasaki Mule, and Chevy Camaro. Fred loved to spread his joyous memories to anyone that would listen. Not a moment was taken for granted. When Fred was around, so was the music to help tell his stories. This included all country music, Jimmy Buffett, and Billy Joel, to name a few. He was a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain. Fred is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Kathryn M. “Kathie” Bauer; his children, Frederick Daniel (Breanne), John Robert and Kiley Marie Bauer; his siblings, Joseph C. Bauer, Jr. and Mary F. Bauer (Norman) Fletcher and his mother-in-law, Mary V. McGovern all of Huntingtown, MD. Friends are invited to celebrate Fred’s life at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, December 28 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Memorial service will be held at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 1250 Emmanuel Church Rd., Huntingtown, MD on Friday, December 29 at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Calvert Hospice, 238 Merrimac Ct., Prince Frederick, MD 20678 or The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403 or Emmanuel United Methodist Church, P.O.
