rederick “Fred†Charles Derr, 75, a resident of Arnold, MD for over 35 years died on October 28, 2008 at Tate Hospice House in Linthicum, MD of natural causes after a lengthy illness.
Born on March 28, 1933 in Buck Run, PA, he was employed as a dental technician, retiring in 1998. He was in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956; he was stationed in Brooklyn, NY and Montgomery, AL. He was a member of St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Annapolis, MD. Mr. Derr's hobbies included model railroading, WWII history and cruise vacations.
He was the beloved husband of Antoinette Kaspar Derr, whom he married on June 12, 1954; father of Charles Derr of Annapolis, MD, Debra Schoonmaker of Dunkirk, MD and Cathy Derr of Severna Park, MD; brother of Donald Derr of Gainesville, VA; also survived by 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Friends are invited to Fred's Life Celebration on Thursday, October 30 from 3 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2008 at 11am at St. Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1120 Spa Road, Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
