Friedhelm Haag - Obituary

F

riedhelm “Fred” Haag, age 59, long time resident of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away December 18, 2015 after a brief, but courageous fight against cancer. Fred was born in Frankfurt, Germany on March 28, 1956 and later traveled to the U.S. with his parents and siblings in 1961. Fred spent much of his childhood traveling across the United States and outside of the U.S. in support of his father’s military career. Fred was known for his open mind and kind heart and enjoyed this unique experience of traveling the world. After his father’s retirement, Fred settled down in Annapolis, MD with his two brothers and one sister. He enjoyed a job in construction and as a handy man. His profession as a handy man lent itself to his hobby of tinkering and fixing things. He loved old cars and found pleasure in attempting to fix them up. Fred can best be described as a free spirit because his soul was kind and open. To his core, Fred was a loving person. His family was the most important thing in his life and he had a sincere love for animals. He had a soft spot for German Sheppards. He was an easy-going person that found amusement even in simple things. He loved playing cards and checkers and had a dry sense of humor that allowed him to throw out a joke when you least expected it. Fred will forever be remembered as a free spirit with the kindest soul and open heart. Fred is survived by two brothers, Roland Haag of Laurel and Peter Haag of Pikesville and a sister, Patricia Levitt of Glen Burnie and 8 nieces and nephews from around Maryland. A memorial service is planned for a later date.
