Gail Marie Smith - Obituary

ail M. Smith, 73, a 10-year resident of Lothian, Maryland and previously of Upper Marlboro passed away on December 15, 2025 after a 20-year battle with cancer. Born on April 7, 1952 in Fairfax County, Virginia to the late Alex J. and Mary Bernice Smith, Gail received her B.S. in Accounting before establishing a 32-year career with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). She was a member of the Chevelle Club, Street Survivors, and the Annapolis Moose and Elks Clubs. Gail had a passion for classic cars. She loved being on the water, was an avid boater and jet skier, and enjoyed crabs. She also loved animals and fostered cats and dogs, which resulted in her adding many to her family. Gail is survived by her beloved wife, Colleen M. Sheerin. They were together for over 32 years. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Gail's life on Monday, December 29 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037, where her funeral service will be held on the following day.
