ary A. Duelley, 76, a 42-year resident of Edgewater, MD, died on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at the Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center in Pasadena, MD. He was born October 24, 1945, in Fairmont, WV to the late Berlin and Opal Brown Duelley. Gary worked for Adrian L. Merton, Inc. in Capitol Heights, MD, retiring after 27 years. He was a longtime member of Riva Trace Baptist Church in Davidsonville, MD, and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, football, baseball, and NASCAR. Gary was a very kind-hearted man. He would go out of his way to help others. He acted as a father figure to many of his daughter's friends. He loved to tell stories of his upbringing and had a very strong tie to his West Virginia roots. He was a devoted husband and extremely hard worker. Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dinah J. Duelley; three daughters, Cassandra Martorana of Hagerstown, MD, Carol (Scott) Wanner of Deale, MD, and Christine Duelley of Edgewater, MD; six siblings, Edward Duelley of Sevierville, TN, Maysel McCoy of Garner, NC, Berlin Duelley of Bowie, MD, Marlene Terry of Decatur, AL, Larry Duelley of Lorian, OH, and Betty Sigley of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Kendel and Jacob Rigglemen, Samantha Duelley, and Ryan and Emma Wanner; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Roger Duelley and Muriel Wolfe. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gary's life on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 2 pm to 4 pm and again from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 236, Edgewater, MD 21037.
