ary J. Ryan, a 41-year resident of Glen Burnie, died suddenly on Sunday, January 8 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes.
Born November 12, 1928 in Rochester, NY, Gary received an A.A. Degree in electronics from Capitol College in Laurel, MD. Gary proudly served in the National Guard and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Gary retired from Westinghouse as an Electrical Engineer, specializing in radar technology. A lifelong HAM radio operator, Gary was a member of the Maryland Mobileers Amateur Radio Club. He was also a long time volunteer with the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum, MD and a volunteer fireman in his hometown when he was younger. Gary enjoyed building and tinkering with electronic gadgets with a special interest in restoring historical electronic devices.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife Jacqueline Ryan, who passed away in November of 1987 and who he married in June of 1951.
He is survived by his children, Michael Ryan of Arnold, MD and Debra Ryan of Belmont, Michigan and one brother, Clair Ryan of Livonia, NY.
Friends are invited to Gary’s Life Celebration on Friday, January 13 from 2pm until his memorial service begins at 4pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 5335 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, D.C. 20015.
