eaton A. DeCesaris, Sr. "Sonny" of Davidsonville, previously of Lothian, died at his residence from cancer on Monday, August 3, 2009, with his loving family at his side. Sonny was born on September 28, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Marco and Ida Janetti DeCesaris. Sonny attended Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine, MD. After school he started working in the construction industry as a bricklayer. Mr. DeCesaris founded his own construction firm, Sonny DeCesaris and Sons, Inc. and eventually the family purchased Washington Homes, Inc. Mr. DeCesaris held the position of Chairman of the Board of Washington Homes, Inc. Sonny was a member of the Knights of St. George, Knights of Columbus, Ducks Unlimited and the Maryland National Capital Building Industry Association. His favorite hobby was hunting and he acquired numerous trophies from the United States, Canada and Africa. Recently, he was inducted in the East Coast Drag Racing Hall of Fame. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" DeCesaris; devoted father of Marco A. (Jackie) DeCesaris, Ida M. (Paul) Sukalo, "Angel Joe" (Deceased), Geaton A. Jr. (Deceased) (JoAnn), Joseph A. (Donna) and A. Hugo (Julie) DeCesaris, Maria R. (Nick) Vaccaro, Elizabeth M. A. (Gary Lee, Deceased) Ryon, Lisa R. (Nello) Caltabiano and Deborah A. (Cameron) Ailiff; brother of Marco, Anthony and Albert DeCesaris, Margaret Mudd and Alice Sacchetti; grandfather of Mary, Madeline and Anna DeCesaris, Idie and Rich Ward, Lizzy and Mark Lahive, Paulie (Deceased), Nicole and Sonny Sukalo, Angela and Christian Duffy, JoAnn Marie and Elizabeth Ida DeCesaris, Kristin and Brian Messineo, Maria DeCesaris, Jenna and Neil Butler, Geaton III, Elisa, Juliana, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Catherine DeCesaris, Nicolette and Dominic Vaccaro, Elizabeth Ann, Ida Rose and Gary Lee (Deceased) Ryon, Jr., Vincent, Marco, Geaton and Sophia Caltabiano, Cameron III, Gaetano, Ella, Finnian and Maria Evangeline (Deceased) Ailiff; great-grandfather of Alyssa Osborne-Sukalo, Richie, Lizzy, Sammy and Michael Ward, Cassius Lahive, Gaetsie, Mia and Christian Duffy, Lily and Geaton Messineo. Family and friends are invited to Sonny's Life Celebration today, Wednesday, August 5 from 4 to 8pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21035, where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, August 6 at 2pm. Entombment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
