ampbell, George Colin, Jr. (age 87)
On May 9, 2019 at his daughter’s home after a two month illness.
Born on July 4, 1931, in Washington, DC, Mr. Campbell grew up in Arlington, VA. He graduated from Washington and Lee HS in 1949 and attended the University of Virginia. He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Mr. Campbell worked for AT&T for 31 years where he was in Management, Operations Department. He later worked six years for the U.S. Government General Service Administration.
He lived in the Lansdowne Woods community in Leesburg for the past sixteen years, and was active in the Condo Association. He and his wife moved recently Ashleigh at Lansdowne Assisted Living. He attended the Chapel at Lansdowne Woods and was a member of its parent church, Galilee UMC..
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his parents, George C. Campbell, Sr., and Gertrude Talbert Campbell; his sister, Margery Campbell Ernest; and his first wife, Susan Ann Grove Campbell.
He is survived by his second wife, Olive “Tommye” Campbell; his daughter Gail C. Pelton of Riva, Maryland; and son Bruce A. Campbell (Diana), of Leesburg ; a stepson Mark Pfefferkorn (Suzanne), Lee’s Summit, MO; and stepdaughter Jean Elizabeth Dickson (Fred), Roseland, VA; grandchildren Nicole Pelton Snyder, (Rob) Brent Campbell (Corey), Chad Campbell (Alicia), Brittany Brady (Sean), and Wendy Morris (Matt), and nine great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held in the Ballroom of the Lansdowne Woods Clubhouse on Saturday, May 25, at 10:30 AM. followed by light refreshments. Internment will be private at National Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, VA.
