eorge Clinton "Johnny" Carr Sr., 86, a lifetime resident of Davidsonville, died of an aortic aneurysm Aug. 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born Jan. 18, 1921, on the same farm on which he resided, Mr. Carr graduated from Annapolis High School in 1939. He owned and operated Carr's Buses Inc. for 62 years. A decorated veteran of World War II, he served under Gen. George S. Patton Jr. in the 12th Armored Division, 493rd Field Artillery Battalion, also known as the "Mystery Division." He served as chief of the Riva Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was an honorary lifetime member. He was president of the Davidsonville Ruritan Club and an honorary lifetime member. He also was a honorary lifetime member of Annapolis Elks Lodge 622. Mr. Carr was the junior warden and later senior warden at All Hallows Episcopal Church for more than 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Crownsville. Surviving are his wife, Barbara M. Carr, whom he married on Nov. 5, 1948; three sons, George C. "Chip" Carr Jr. of Davidsonville, Charles W. Carr of Edgewater and Martin W. Carr of Annapolis; one daughter, Barbara A. Moran of Davidsonville; and nine grandchildren. A grandson, Naval Academy Midshipman Charles "Ben" Carr IV, was killed in a automobile accident in November 2006. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2007 at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Anglican Church, Crownsville Road and Generals Highway, Crownsville. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church, P.O. Box 380, Crownsville, MD 21032.
