eorge “Buddy” LeCompte, 81, a 12-year resident of Port Charlotte, FL, and previously of Annapolis, MD, died on November 2 in Port Charlotte of natural causes. He was born on May 14, 1927 in Washington, DC to the late Irving and Naomi LeCompte. He attended St. Martins, Langley and McKinley Tech High Schools. He was a graduate of Bliss Electrical (now Montgomery College) and American University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the U.S. Merchant Marine. He worked for PEPCO and later as Customer Engineer for IBM Corporation where he worked for 36 years. After his retirement in 1987, he worked as a Teacher's Aide at Tall Oaks High School in Prince George's County. He was a member of San Antonio Catholic Church in Port Charlotte and previously of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #12456, Elk's Lodge #2763 and the American Legion Post 110. After his family, his second greatest love was golf and watching soccer. He was one of the founding members of the New Carrollton Soccer program in the 1970's. He is survived by his wife, the former Margot Graessle from Wurzburg, Germany; his children, Christopher LeCompte of St. Petersburg, FL, Denise LeCompte of San Francisco, and Terrence LeCompte of Crofton, MD; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Jenkins of Silver Spring, MD. He was preceded in death by five siblings: Ruth Trimble, Betty Shenk and Jean, Gerry and Robert LeCompte. Family and friends are invited to Buddy's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, on Thursday, November 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, November 7, at 9 a.m. St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Annapolis.
