eorge McGeeney of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Selbyville, DE passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Born on September 30, 1937 in Baltimore, MD to the late George and Anna McGeeney, George was a graduate of Poly High School and served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant with the military police. He also earned an executive degree from Morgan State University and went on to become a director at Pharmacia. George enjoyed all things lacrosse, including watching his kids and grandkids play and was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Anna. He is survived by his children, George (Astrid) McGeeney, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Mike (Michelle) McGeeney of Annapolis, MD, John (Diane)of Cincinnati, OH, Tim (Kristin) McGeeney of Memphis, TN and Connie (James) Baker of Georgetown, TX; a brother, James of Pasadena, MD and a sister, Pat Sheppard of Venice, FL and twelve grandchildren, Logan, Hunter, Mia, Mike Jr., Samantha, Kaitlin, Molly, Conor, Grace and Matthew McGeeney and Emily and Natalie Baker.
Friends are invited to celebrate George's life on Tuesday, May 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday, May 6, at 11:00am at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6405 Orchard Rd., Linthicum, MD. Interment Crestlawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
