George E. Scott - Obituary

eorge E. Scott, Jr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, January 29 at Somerford Place in Annapolis, MD due to complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on March 26, 1931 in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC, to the late George E. Scott, Sr. and Mary Ruth Kerns, George served in the U.S. Marine Corps and later worked for the D.C. Public School System for 38 years. After retiring, he embarked on his second career as a home improvement contractor and home builder. George was an amateur radio operator, WA3FKT, for more than 65 years and was a volunteer with the Christmas in April project and at Villa Rosa Nursing Home. He was a member of the Annapolis Elks and the Annapolis Moose and he enjoyed boating, bowling, gardening and winemaking. George is survived by his devoted wife, Alyce Scott; his children, Steven M. and James P. (Carol) Scott, Terri (Joe) Goldsmith and Tammy (Mickey) Norris and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many loyal friends. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved son, George E. Scott, III and his sisters, Virginia Delinski and Dorothy Beauchamp. Friends are invited to celebrate George's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Rd., West River, MD on Monday, February 4 at 11 AM. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
