George H. Stebbing - Obituary

G

eorge Howard Stebbing, 75, a 28 year resident of Tracys Landing and formerly of Landover Hills, MD died unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, August 3 at Luminis Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. George served honorably in the United States Air Force until he was injured. He spent the remaining years of his career working as a civilian for the Department of Defense as an engineer. George loved education and took every opportunity he could to earn degrees, certificates or diplomas to further his education. Anyone that knew George knew his love of thrift stores, antique stores and spending hours looking in pawn shops. He was a hard worker at work (when he wanted to go) and worked even harder at his home projects that never seemed to get finished just the way he wanted. He was a perfectionist at heart. George is survived by his wife and best friend, Diana. When he was not spending time with Diana, he was spending time with his only son, George Stebbing of Shady Side, MD. They would ride around talking and enjoying their hours of pawn shopping. He is also survived by two daughters, Rachael Nealy of Dinwiddie, VA and Tammy Harrison of Glen Burnie, MD; two stepdaughters, Bobbie Jo Queen-Bell of Newport, NC and Christine Tyler of Shady Side, MD; his siblings, Arlene Burley, Elizabeth Mingus, Irene Strider and Ronnie Stebbing and 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly and would do anything for. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Stebbing and his siblings, Johnny and Carol. Friends are invited to celebrate George's life on Monday, August 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am.
