George V. Sweeney, Sr., 62, a 40-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away at his home on March 30, 2020 following a year-long battle with cancer.  He was born on September 1, 1957 in Baltimore, MD to the late Mary and Robert Sweeney, Sr.  George worked at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.  He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed camping.  His passion though was spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.  George is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Loretta; two children, George Sweeney, Jr. and Heather Stickley; three brothers, Robert Sweeney, Jr., Jimmy Sweeney and Joey Sweeney, Sr.; three sisters, Elaine Rogers, Amanda Chaney and Rosemary Sweeney; and three granddaughters, Madison Sweeney and Paige and Briannah Stickley.  A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
