George Thomas - Obituary

eorge R. Thomas, 72, a 40-year resident of Davidsonville, MD and previously of Landover Hills, MD died on December 16, 2010 at his home. Born October 6, 1938 to the late Zelma Fay and Chester R. Thomas, he graduated from Huntingtown Township High School and attended the University of Maryland. George retired from Nationwide Insurance Company in 1996. His memberships included American Legion, Post 7 in Crownsville since 1992 and Annapolis Moose Lodge #296. He was a coach with the Davidsonville Athletic Association for 20 years and former member of Davidsonville United Methodist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, was an avid outdoorsman and watching sports, particularly the Redskins. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cynthia Ann Thomas; his children, George R. Thomas, Jr. of Alexandria, VA and Lori L. Robey of Edgewater, MD; a brother, Owen C. Thomas of Ashland, PA; two grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas Robey and Christina Marie Robey. Friends are invited to George’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday, December 20 from 9:30am until time of service begins at 10am. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
