George Calvin Wallace - Obituary

olonel George Calvin Wallace (Retired), 90, a resident of Annapolis for 43 years and previously of Ft. Meade, died January 18, 2024 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born in Brewton, AL to the late Clarence Jefferson and Mary Ellen (Shires) Wallace, he was educated at Livingston College, Shippensburg University and the Army War College, earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He started his military career with the National Guard, rising to the rank of Sergeant while enlisted. He then joined the Army, proudly serving during the Vietnam War before retiring in 1979 as a Colonel. After retiring from the Army, he had a successful career in real estate. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Butler. George is survived by his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Louise Wallace; his children, Robert Wallace of Hickory, NC, Sylvia Hardnett of Annapolis and Georgette Wallace of Livermore, CO; his grandchildren, Clinton and Anthony Hardnett, John Childre, Elliott and Elizabeth Butler, Rachel and Lana Volz, Rosa Wallace Everson and Annie Lloyd Nesbitt; 12 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
