eorgie Lee Mauk, 91, a life-long resident of Galesville, died of congestive heart failure on February 8, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1919 to the late Ernest and Eva Smith and graduated from Southern High School in 1937. Georgie was a clerk at Kolb’s Country Store in Galesville for many years and a former Manager of the Nutrition Program at Anne Arundel County’s Department of Aging. She was a former member of the Galesville United Methodist Church and currently of the Chesapeake Christian Fellowship. Georgie had a gift for crocheting, hand-quilting and sewing. She loved crabbing, Orioles baseball and her church community. Most of all, she was devoted to her family.
Georgie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward F. Mauk, Sr., who died in 1999, and her son, Edward F. Mauk, Jr., who died in 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Frankie Lee Parkinson, three grandsons, William J., Michael E. and Donald S. Parkinson, and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Parkinson, all of Galesville.
Friends are invited to Georgie’s Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, February 11, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, at 10 a.m. at Galesville United Methodist Church, 4825 Church Lane, Galesville. Interment Woodfield Cemetery.
