eorgine Lucerne Spisak, 89, succumbed to complications related to diabetes on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Georgine was born in Pittsburgh, PA, March 22, 1934 where she was raised and attended Taylor Allderdice High School graduating in 1951. Shortly after, she met and married Francis Donald Spisak, deceased. During their 25 years of marriage, which ended in divorce, they lived and traveled extensively around the world and had four sons. Some of her favorite places included the Philippines, Germany, and New York City. During the course of her life, she survived cancer and lived with type 1 diabetes for nearly 50 years. Georgine worked for the Naval Research Laboratory for 29 years. She was known for her attention to detail, her tough attitude, and driven personality. One of her true passions in life was playing card games of all types but she excelled at bridge earning multiple master’s points. Additionally, she was a voracious reader and a lover of movies. She lived with her sister Gwen for seventeen years. Together they happily bounced around playing cards, going to the casino, hitting the road to visit family, and doing ladies’ week at the beach. They were known for their total organization of all the food for these trips. They loved trying new recipes and testing them out on friends and family. Georgine and Gwen cherished their crafting for all holidays and seasons. They loved hosting card games and dinner parties. Their little sister Kathleen enjoyed their antics and hearing about their adventures. Georgine cherished her phone calls with Kathleen especially after they lost Gwen. Georgine was incredibly thoughtful about staying in touch with her nieces and nephews. She looked forward to their phone calls and gossiping. This continued when she made her new home at The Virginian where she was always chatting about what everyone else was doing. Georgine is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Elanor Lucerne, her sister Gwen Rota, and son Dale Thomas Spisak. She is survived by her sons David “Biff” Spisak, Mark Spisak, and Craig Spisak and her daughters-in-law Lahoma Allen, Carol Spisak, and Tara Scully.
