Geraldine A. Sosnowsky - Obituary

eraldine Sosnowsky passed away peacefully, at home in Gingerville Woods, Edgewater, MD, on June 26, 2018. Gerry was born in Allentown, PA on October 5, 1951. While growing up, she lived with her family in both the Allentown area and in Carroll county, MD. After graduating from New College, in Sarasota, FL, Gerry became a Montessori teacher. Subsequently, she moved to the Princeton, NJ area and began working for the publishing company John Wiley & Sons, in New York City. In 1983, she met her soulmate and the love of her life, Robert McEachern, while contra-dancing in Princeton and Lambertville, NJ. Gerry and Rob moved to the Annapolis, MD area, the following year, and built their home in Gingerville Woods, where they continued to live happily, along with their beloved, adopted cats. While in Annapolis, in addition to making friends while contra dancing, and cross-country skiing with the Sierra Club’s Anne Arundel group, Gerry embarked on the study of yoga. She had found her calling in life, enabling her to touch the lives of many, in a positive manner, by teaching yoga, at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, as well as other venues. Gerry continued teaching yoga at Maryland Hall, for 25 years, until the time of her death, following a two and a half month struggle with an aggressive cancer of unknown origin. Gerry and Rob had the opportunity to travel extensively together, throughout the world. Together, they also engaged in an intellectual voyage into life-long-learning and continuing education, at both St. John’s College in Annapolis, and Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold. They participated in the Executive Seminar program at St. John’s for over ten years, as well as numerous Community Seminars, and were very active members of the Peer Learning Partnership (PLP) at the community college, since joining in 2008. Gerry was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Bertha Sosnowsky of Westminster, MD. In addition to Rob, Gerry is survived by her two brothers, Joe Sosnowsky of Ocean City, NJ and John Sosnowsky of Woodsboro, MD, along with their families.
