erard Daniel VanDagna, 61, a 23-year resident of Riva, MD and previously of Medford Lakes, NJ died on July 13, 2010 at his home after fighting a courageous 18 month battle against cancer.
Born February 26, 1949 in Bronx, NY to the late Frank and Bertha VanDagna, he was a 1966 graduate of Mount St. Michael Academy, 1968 graduate of the American Institute of Banking, NYC, 1970 graduate of Borough of Manhattan Community College. He also attended Rutgers University. Gerry served in the United States Army Reserves from 1969-76 as an X-ray technician. He was employed since1982, with Martin-Marietta and Lockheed Martin, then most currently with Affiliated Computer Systems as a Regional Vice President. Gerry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD. His hobbies included boating, playing the stock market, spending time with his children and grandchildren and rooting for the NY Yankees and Baltimore Ravens.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria VanDagna, whom he married on September 30, 1972; two sons, Christopher VanDagna of Annapolis, MD and Daniel VanDagna of Falls Church, VA; one daughter, Tracy VanDagna of Annapolis, MD; two siblings, Robert and JoAnne VanDagna, both of Manalapan, NJ; also survived by three grandchildren, Anneliese, Marielle and John VanDagna.
Friends are invited to Gerry's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday, July 19 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, July 20 at 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment immediately following Mass at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
