Gerda Kuhnert - Obituary

erda Marie Bertha Kuhnert, 78, a ten year resident of Odenton died at home of natural causes on Saturday, March 1. Born December 31, 1935 in Germany, Gerda was employed by Cleaning by Riley; retiring in 1994 in order to help take care of her first grandchild. She was a member of Riva Trace Baptist church and enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and loved all people. Her desire was that they be with her in heaven. She was also involved with fundraising for the Pregnancy Clinic Ministry in Bowie. Gerda was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Siegfried Kuhnert, in 1984. She is survived by one son, Peter (Dinah) Kuhnert of Bowie; one daughter, Gabriela (Rick) Schmidt of Odenton; one brother, Heinz (Hildegard) Borrman of Germany; a niece, Regina Golombek of Germany; one grandson, Siegfried Schmidt of Odenton; four granddaughters, Sarah, Esther and Hannah Kuhnert of Bowie and Michaela Schmidt of Odenton. Friends are invited to Gerda’s Life Celebration on Thursday, March 6, from 11AM to 1PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, where a funeral service will begin at 1PM. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122 or the Pregnancy Clinic, 4341 Northview Drive, Bowie, MD 20716.
