Gertrude Shymansky - Obituary

ertrude P. Shymanksy, a 13-year resident of Edgewater died December 26 at South River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on October 6, 1925 in Washington, DC and graduated from Eastern High School. Gertrude was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards. She also enjoyed sports, was an avid Redskins fan and a former catcher for the Garvin's Grill Softball Team which held the honor of "City Champs" in the 1940s. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Shymansky, Jr. She is survived by two sons, John C. (Lorrie) Shymansky III of LaPlata and R. Michael (Ann) Shymansky of Cape Coral, FL, and three grandchildren. Friends are invited to Gertrude's Life Celebration from 11 a.m. to at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 25 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Ste.
