eza “George†Molnar, 89, a 3-year resident of Harwood and previously of Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD, died on February 5, 2010 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD. Born December 6, 1920 in Bethlehem, PA, he was a Captain in the Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force, serving in Burma and India during World War II. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1947 and Georgetown University School of Law in 1950. While studying at Lehigh University, he was named to the 1946 All-America Soccer and Baseball Teams. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the New York Giants baseball team, but chose instead to focus on the study of law. In 1994 he was inducted into the Lehigh University Athletics Hall of Fame for baseball and soccer.
After graduating from Georgetown, George began practicing law in Maryland. In 1970, he started a private practice which he continued until his retirement in 1985. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Montgomery Golf Club. He also enjoyed literature, was a member of the Leisure World Writers Club, and was a published poet in his retirement years.
He was the husband of the late Jay Molnar who he married in 1947 and who died in 2002. He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Anne Williams of Harwood, two grandchildren: Kristina Cooley of St. Leonard, MD and Peter Tcherkassky of Annapolis, and two great-granddaughters: Evie and Lily Cooley of St. Leonard. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Csandli, John Molnar, Mary Ambrose and Anna Hulsizer.
