Gilbert (Gil), brother of Rosemary, John, George, and Carl (deceased) ascended from this world on December 2, 2025. Gilbert, son of George W. Dobbs Jr. and Rose (Wastaferro) J. Dobbs of Oxon Hill, MD had unselfishly dedicated his life to being a support figure for his extended family.
Even though Gil acquired a lifelong disability at an early age, he graduated high school. He found to be skilled at assisting with many family projects and became quite good at restoring furniture, creating art, and taking many hours acquiring “treasures” from thrift stores for the family homes. In his earlier years, he was considered a real artist, especially in producing portraits. One of Gilbert’s most significant accomplishments was to care for his parents all the way through their passing in 1989 and 1996.
Those who knew “Gil” also know he was the biggest baseball fan, ever. At an early age, he brought his brothers to the Senator games at RFK stadium. He was a regular at EVERY Washington National’s game in D.C. He loved collecting foul balls, bobble-head give-aways, and acquiring an impressive array of Nationals paraphernalia.
Gilbert was loved by his nieces and nephews as they were always pleasantly surprised with his frequent visits and gifts…
Gilbert is survived by his sister Rosemary and his two brothers John and George.
