Family and friends are invited to Glennie's Celebration of Life on Friday, March 27, 2015 from 10am until time of services at 11am at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. If you will be attending the committal service at the cemetery the procession will be leaving the funeral home at 12:15pm. Glennie Maria Parks Cole was born on March 14, 1953 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to Eugene and Mildred Parks. Glennie passed away peacefully on March 22, 2015 at Washington Homes Community Hospice Center in Washington, DC. She attended the Wayne County Public Schools, receiving her high school diploma from Rosewood High School in 1971. Glennie married the love of her life, Charles Cole, on April 15, 1977, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Glennie attended the Living Waters Church, Fort Washington, Maryland. She loved the fellowship and especially loved hearing the teaching and preaching of Pastor Kevin Cole. Glennie was a dedicated employee diligently working for over thirty years at Howard University Hospital as a Unit Secretary, retiring in October 2014. Glennie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Charles, and devoted children, Annitra (Winston Salem, NC) and Christopher (Oxon Hill, MD); her brother, James Parks, Dudley, NC; three sisters, Alean Jackson (Carlton), Goldsboro, NC; Betty Forte, Dudley, NC; and Rosemary Pigford (Julius), Dudley, NC; Wade Cole (Joyce), Four Oaks, NC, brother in-law; Betty Riles (Roosevelt), Raleigh, NC, sister in-law; Ella Thompson (Delroy), Smithfield, NC, sister in-law; Amanda Coley (Willie), Four Oaks, NC, sister in-law; James Cole, Virginia Beach, VA; brother in-law; Jacqueline Cole, Raleigh, NC, sister in-law; and Henry Rodgers (Ruby), Kinston, NC, a special cousin; and countless nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
